Punjabi Golfers Association was formed in Calgary, Alberta in 1997 and has been active ever since. The stated goal of the organization is to popularize the game of golf within the Punjabi community. Punjabi Golfers Association strives to introduce golf to new players by actively assisting those who wish to learn the game.
Punjabi Golfers Association further works to contribute to society at large by holding tournaments in aid of specified charities.
Proceeds from the Royal Punjabi Cup are donated to the Seva Food Bank, a locally operated food bank in Wolfdale & Malton, an international charity that helps those in need.
In 2019, the golfers and sponsors of the Royal Punjabi Cup raised another $50,000 for these worthy charities.
